Friday 17th November 2017: “DO POPES STILL HAVE POWER ?”
“Vicars of Christ” have undoubtedly helped shape the course of history – not just in the Church but in the world as a whole. But do they still wield real clout today – and if so what kind, and how do they use it?
Come and discuss it with..

Ride and Stride 2016 – Saturday 10th September
This year the Oxfordshire Historic Churches Trust annual Sponsored Ride and Stride takes place this year on Saturday 10th September. It is a fantastic event in which everyone can take part and is a great event for families, friends or people on their own. It is a healthy form of exercise and a good excuse to go out and visit churches in the countryside or around a town. There is no minimum or maximum number of churches to visit or prescribed routes, go at your own pace for any distance in any direction you wish on a bike, on foot or horseback. Some churches in outlying villages do not receive many visitors so why not consider visiting them on your route?
See Hilda for sponsor forms and information. Sponsor forms, information and lists of participating churches are also available on the OHCT website and can be downloaded and printed. These can be found on the link below:

We are delighted that together at the BAZAAR we have raised £1,010 for the parish and a further £200 for charities as a result of Saturday’s morning’s efforts. Considering our trials and tribulations and the poor weather this is an incredible result. CONGRATULATIONS!
A tremendous thanks to all of you who came and helped run the Bazaar, manned the stalls, baked the cakes and made the jams, donated the bottles, sold the goods. Special thanks to those who helped set up on Friday evening and stayed behind to CLEAR UP AT THE END. Your reward must be in heaven!
All proceeds towards the renovation of our stone cottage on the corner of Fishers Lane to turn it into a Parish Room.

PILGRIMAGE TO LINDISFARNE – Monday 24 to Saturday 29 August led by Suze Mathews.
Organized with Churches Together Charlbury a Pilgrimage went to the Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Northumbria to visit the shrines and holy places connected to the Northern Saints. Led by medieval historian and parishioner of St Teresa’s, Suze Mathews, 22 pilgrims spent six inspiring and enjoyable days together. Based in Durham, beside the stunning cathedral, we travelled each day to visit Lindisfarne and Holy Island, Jarrow, Escombe, Hexham and the Ruthwell Cross and were expertly guided and instructed by Suze as we did. It was the most wonderful opportunity to reflect about those men and women who did so much to bring and keep Christianity in England – we owe them much. Pilgrims offered prayers at each site throughout the pilgrimage and helped to make it a truly faith affirming experience.
The annual PARISH BARBECUE, organised by Alison Offer, was held on Sunday 28th June in the presbytery garden. Although we had grey skies for the event the rain held off and a super time was had by all as we enjoyed a delicious lunch. It was good to meet new parishioners and to see so many families there. Many thanks to everyone who sold tickets, lent chairs, tables, cool boxes and gazebos, contributed to a fantastic array of salads, brought raffle prizes, ran the bar, helped set up and dismantle, washed up before and after, prayed for dry weather in the face of a pessimistic weather forecast, prepared the garden or supported the barbecue in any way. A special thanks to John and Ian for barbecuing enough meat for around 60 of us.
An ACN FUNDRAISING CONCERT organized by Suze Mathews was held in St Mary’s Church on June 18th and was a successful evening. A powerful presentation about the work of the charity by Dr Dee Dunne-Thomas from ACN was followed by a delightful recital by the Quartet Melba. The evening raised just under £600 for the charity.
